Roger Bannister shows that there are no limits- It was considered impossible for any human, but Roger Bannister showed the world it can be done. The British runner made a new world record in the mile run - 3:59.4 min, and thus broke the famous "4min barrier".

Bannister made his famous record breaking at a meet in Oxford on May 6, 1954. Bannister’s record changed the perspective in the sport world about human athletic limits, for that alone he deserves to be a hall of famer. He retired from athletic competition in 1954, he then began to practice medicine.
