Although this record is probably tainted with the mark of steroids, at the time, this record did wonders for baseball. Mark McGwire ended with 70 as the single season home run champion. McGwire hugged his son and was congratulated by Sammy Sosa, who also had a banner year because of 66 dingers. Both the players gave a boost to the game when all the stadiums were empty and the television ratings were completely down. These kinds of events have a uniqueness of their own which remains unparalleled in the history of that particular game. This incident however made its own place secure in the Hall of Fame with regard to Baseball.
